Hello and welcome to Oak Class. What a fun filled year we have had up to now! It has been full of wonderful topics which have so far included: gallery trips, visits to the zoo (to study evolution and inheritance) and even the dissection of a real heart!! Yuck! I have really enjoyed getting to know you all and helping you to become the very best that you can be! With only a few short weeks left until we sit our SATS, I am proud of each and every one of you, and for all the effort you have put in so far this year, to become the very best that you can be...
Summer Term in oak class. Frozen Kingdom
Make a giant iceberg! Freeze water in a large balloon or clear plastic bag overnight. Once frozen, remove and place in a large container of water. Observe how the iceberg sits in the water and how it changes over time. Explore questions such as ‘What happens if you add salt to the iceberg? Why do you think there are air bubbles in your iceberg? Why do you think the ice moves as it melts? Is there anything else that you want to try out on your iceberg? Which part melts more quickly – the part above or below the surface?’
We will also research what it is that is causing the arctic ice to melt. we will also discover the damage that we, as human beings, are doing to our wonderful planet. More IMPORTANTLY, We will learn what we can do to assist animals, such as polar bears, who are struggling to survive on our ever changing planet.
SATS This year, SAts week begins on 13th May 2019. All children have been given their revision books and should be revising each night for a short period of time (20-30 minutes) you must all ensure you take time to get some EXERCISE and have some fun! remember sats doesn't measure everything! As long as you know you have done your best then your best must always be good enough for you as it will always be good enough for us! read the poem below:
SATs don't measure sports, SATs don't measure art, SATs don't measure music, or the kindness in your heart.
SATs don't see your beauty, SATs don't know your worth, SATs don't see the reasons You were put upon this earth.
SATs don't see your magic, how you make others smile, SATs don't time how quickly you can run a mile.
SATs don't hear your laughter, or see you've come this far, SATs are just a tiny glimpse of who you really are.
So sitting at your table, with a pencil and your test, Remember SATs aren't who you are, remember you're the best.
